A Fire Ignited

It all began with a fire, or, a really large number of them. We would have them almost weekly with just our friends. Nobody was around on the beach, waves breaking, fire crackling, and people laughing. For years we had these fires for our friends, and over time we began to wonder: where is everyone else? This is one of the most fun activities on the Outer Banks and nobody else is enjoying it, there had to be a reason.

So, we started to dive in. Why aren’t more people enjoying these beach fires? The more we thought about it, the more we realized the hangups. A lot of people don’t have 50 pounds of wood, shovels, rakes, buckets of water, the time to get their permits, or the knowledge of the local regulations to even comfortably build the fire to the law. It is a lot. To us, it had become second nature, when you do an activity night in and night out, it starts to become easier and easier and you lose sight of the barriers to others.

But, this wasn’t something we could accept. There had to be a way to share this, so more people could enjoy beach fires on the Outer Banks. We started to plan and over time we have come to this resolution, Outer Banks Beach Fires. In order to share the experience with others, we will be the “Igniters”. We will be the ones to put the work into the fires so that others can enjoy them as well. Carrying the firewood, equipment, buckets of water, acquiring the permit, and more. We take every step of the process out of your hands and take care of it for you, and quite literally with a smile. Being able to share this with others has brought a new level of appreciation for the fires in our eyes as well. Seeing the joy it brings people for their first beach fire ever. The joyful, nostalgic looks into the fire that bring people back to their childhood and easier times. Families watching their kids chase ghost crabs around the firelight. Old friends reunited with a warm fire and cold drinks. The beach fire is more than just a nighttime activity, and now everyone can experience that for themselves.
