Fire Kit Instructions
Booking a Beach Fire Kit? Here is how that process will go:
We will drop off all of the required gear on the day you arrive here on our Outer Banks and pick it up on the day you leave.
Decide if you want to have your fire in Nags Head or in the Cape Hatteras Seashore. The Wind in Nags Head for a permit has to be under 11.5 MPH, however, if you have your fire in Cape Hatteras National Seashore there is no wind restriction. But, we do suggest people only have fires there if the wind is under 15mph or blowing offshore (the wind is blowing from the dunes out towards the ocean)
Monitor the wind report for your fire.

Once you have the optimal wind for a fire, you acquire your permit
For Cape Hatteras, we have a printed permit with your bundle, all you do is fill out the form and keep it with you at your beach fire in case rangers come to check it. This includes Coquina Beach in South Nags Head which provides a great option for guests staying in Nags Head when the wind is slightly over 11.5MPH
For Nags Head, you will have to go to nagsheadfirerescue.com to fill out your permit application. The wind has to be under 11.5MPH in order to see the blue Submit Application Button in their Fire Permit Status section on the right side of their homepage. Simply click that button, fill out the form, and you’ll be ready for your fire! If the wind is over 11.5, the button will not be shown to click.
After your permit is acquired, you are ready to go! Head to your fire location and build your fire to the regulations provided by the Town which can be found on our site here.
See below for screenshots of the Wind Monitoring Page and the Nags Head permitting website to show where to go on those sites.
